From The Chair
On behalf of our Governing Board, Darren Herd, Chairperson Arbre Forest Industries Training and Careers Hub.
Industry leaders from around Tasmania came together in 2016 to create a concept that is aimed at promoting Forest Industry careers and training across the whole industry. Arbre’s functions include facilitating the promotion of forestry industry training with a focus on harvesting, transport and haulage, seeking funding to offset training costs and liaising with industry authorities and training providers to meet the needs of members and industry. Arbre also provides a conduit for people seeking a career in the forest industry. Arbre staff are regular visitors to schools and colleges promoting career awareness and showcasing the wide variety of opportunities available within the industry including the annual Cadet Forester Program. Arbre strives to foster strong relationships with the education sector, government agencies, training providers, and community groups to promote the value and opportunities of Forest Industry careers, access funding support and develop customised training packages.
Arbre is a not for profit organisation, overseen and managed by a governing board with current representation from Forico Pty Ltd, Reliance Forest Fibre, Sustainable Timber Tasmania, Timberlands Pacific, Midway Tasmania Pty Ltd, Casegrande Lumber Pty Ltd, RDO Equipment and Mechlog. Arbre is driven by the need of members and the Forest Industry and we encourage your involvement as a member of Arbre. We look forward to your participation and valued feedback as Arbre evolves as a key part of supporting a wide range of industry outcomes into the future.
